adam petty cars and photos

Before Adam Petty finished his first American Speed Association race in 1998, he was already a part of sports history. By entering the race, the then 17-year-old member of one of the most famous families in racing became the first fourth-generation athlete in all of professional sports. For the year 2000, Adam planned to run a full season in the NASCAR Busch Grand National Division, in addition to select races in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series. Unfortunately, young Adam's career was cut short in a fatal accident on May 12, 2000, during a practice session at New Hampshire International Speedway in Loudon, New Hampshire. Adam will be sorely missed by his family, friends and the racing community in general.
