Hello!

These are the templates I've made for use with Papyrus's Nascar 3 expansion pack. I've made these as accurate as I can for the 2000 season. I've used film from photographs I've taken down in Daytona and Homestead for the Truck races (thanks for getting me into the Pits Hughston!) and scoured the net for the rest of my resource material. Thanks to Hughston Caldwell with Andy Houston's truck team for giving me a hand! The only liberties I've taken is that the truck model in N3 has WAY to large of a front bumper. Due to this some things were impossible to do, and I could only do what I could do to make things look right.

There are quite a few files in the zip. There are 3 pcx files for each truck type. These are standard exports that you should be already familiar with. Since they are blended from the PSP files that are in the zip, these may be hard to paint by standard methods around the headlights, manufacturer logos, etc. I've also included the 3 templates in a full .trk format. There is also a list file included for them. I do this so that I never lose my templates. If I mess up the original I simply export the one in the .trk file and keep on going.

I've also included 2 different mask files. One is for the PSP files in the zip, and the other is for the exported pcx file. With those 2 masks I'm able to do anything I want in just a few steps.

The other files in the zip are 3 PSP files. These are the motherload of what you want. These are fully layered, shaded, decked out trucks. If you've read IFreeze's tutorial on car painting, then you are probably already somewhat familiar with layers, but if not, then this is a good place to learn. Using Layers is everything (IMHO) in getting a good looking vehicle. It simplifies so many things, and makes going back and changing things a viable option instead of the pain in the rear it is without them. I've also saved the truckworking.sel selection as an alpha channel to simplify opening it. If you don't know what the heck I just said, load up one of the psp files, go to selections, go to load from alpha channel, and select the truckworking.sel.

These PSP files work ONLY in PSP 6 or above. You can download PSP 6 from http://www.jasc.com

If you have read IFreeze's tutorial and didn't understand some of it, messing around with these files may help you understand some things. IFreeze's tutorial is at http://apexwebs.net/ifreezn/rps/

From what I've read Freeze and myself do things somewhat similiarly, except I don't resize my art to twice the size, paint it, then size it back down. I prefer to work at scale.

I'm not good at explaining how to do things, so don't bother e-mailing me asking me, because I'm not going to write back, you wouldn't understand my gibberish :). They had to rewrite my instructions on how to import and export graphics in the N3 readme because it was illegible <G>.

You are welcome to post this zip on websites, I only ask that you keep the whole set together without modification, and that you give me credit for creating it.

I hope you enjoy these :). Comments welcome.
